Spring Open Day

AUGUST 30th 2009

Around 50 visitors braved the cold to view the excellent, high growth, high EMA group of young sale bulls (some still available, see our sales pages) and spring calving cows and heifers of varying age range.

The Industry information sessions commencing at 10.45 am proved very popular and all attending felt they had gained some knowledge on the varying topics. Of particular interest and excitement was the news about the new Angus burger products now available at 800 McDonalds outlets throughout Australia. (From Michael Pointer, Advisor to CAAB) Many who attended would have seen the first of the television advertisements from McDonalds that evening.

Visitors warmed up at lunch time with a hearty meal of peppery and flavorsome CAAB pies. Those who had not tried them before had an enjoyable eating experience.

The lucky gate prize winner for this years Spring Open Day was Steve McKenna of St Albans. Glenn Heily from Rushworth (for a second time) won the Guess the Weight of the bulls competition. His guess was 100kg out over three bulls, not the closest guesstimation we have had over the years but still an excellent attempt. Thanks to Merial for sponsoring the prizes for our winners.
